Urban artist from Sao Paulo #RodrigoBranco painting at Yaam Bar in Berlin
The past of Rodrigo Branco, a young artist from Brazil, who grew up in the poor outskirts of Sao Paulo, is not forgotten. The faces he paints over and over again… carry his past and present…It is said that eyes are the doors to one’s soul. If you look into the eyes of the faces he paints you are touched, you want to know the story, there is so much emotion behind those eyes. The multiple layers that cover the faces he paints are like the wrinkles one gets when growing up. The little paper boat over the head, that looks also like a hat, is a nice souvenir from his childhood ; when him and other children were making those paper boats and watched them sailing on a nearby river. Today, the river has lost this childish innocence; today the river is highly polluted and full of trash. Today, Rodrigo lives in the city center, but he goes back to where he comes from. He takes part in various educational and artistic projects conducted in the the poor neighbourhoods, where he also works as a documentary photographer.
